Age of Reason complies with GDPR data regulation and has a double opt in policy on email collection. We are clear that customers can choose to use this website without giving consent for us to collect data for marketing purposes. It's completely up to you whether you click the opt in to marketing button at the checkout.
Why do you need my information?
We usually need it to process your order, otherwise things would get a wee bit tricky to manage.
When you purchase something from The Age of Reason Studios online store, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address so that we can effectively process and ship your order. When you browse our store, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn which browser and operating system you are using. This allows us to display our store in the most user-friendly way.
Email marketing: With your permission only, Age of Reason Studios may send you emails about our online store, new products, sales, news and other updates.
You can say yes or no to marketing, it's up to you. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
How do you get my consent? Well, you give it to us. When you provide Age of Reason with personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we collect your necessary info with the intention of using it for that specific reason only. If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will ask you directly for your expressed consent- for example you would tick an opt in box, which triggers an opt in email. Our opt in box says "Keep me up to date on news and exclusive offers." You can choose to tick this or not. You can also choose to place an order without supplying an email address if you wish. Plenty of people order with just a mobile number, and that is totally cool with us.
How do I withdraw my consent?
Just unsubscribe, we really don't mind- we support choice & freedom around here!
If after you opt-in to receive marketing emails, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, or for use of your information at anytime by clicking UNSUBSCRIBE at the bottom of our emails or by contacting us at <firstname.lastname@example.org> You can also write to us at: Age of Reason UK Ltd, Studio 504, 91 Western Road, Brighton, BN1 2LB
We've got to share your basic info with people who help us to delivery your order. They are not permitted to do anything shady with that info. If they do, we'll give them a serious talking to and report them. But seriously, they wouldn't do that.
If you have not opted in to marketing but have made a purchase or created an account we only share your information with other companies where it is necessary to processing an order and general financial accounting. This includes processing payments and submitting our sales data to our accountants.
This is a list of GDPR compliant companies we share your data with for the purposes of processing an order and accounting:
- Niblock Logistical Solutions Ltd for Order Fullfilment
- Your Accounts Team Ltd- For Accounting Purposes
- Shopify - for Order and Payment Processing
- Paypal- For Payment Processing
- Stripe- For Payment Processing
- Xero - For Accounting Purposes
If you have opted into email marketing we use Mailchimp to store your data and send you marketing emails. Mailchimp is GDPR compliant and your data is password protected. We also use an application called Form Builder to collect your information when you sign up via our pop-up windows. Form Builder is owned by AAA Webstore, which is a GDPR compliant company. If you have found our website via Facebook, we have a cookie registering impressions from Facebook. Please see the Cookies section for this.
If you have signed up to a mentoring scheme with Ali Mapletoft via Facebook, we used a secure App called 22Social owned by 22social, Inc. to collect your data. This data is stored on a secure server and cannot be transferred by 22S Inc for commercial purposes. Every 6 months we delete any unused data.
We may have to disclose your personal information if we are required to do so by the forces of law (the police for example) or if there is any illegal activity associated with a transaction, or activity which violates our Terms of Service. In this case we would seek legal advice before disclosing your information.
We can't remove your data from Paypal or your bank. Only you can do that.
Here's the thing. We can only see little bits of your payment info like the last few digits of your card. We're not evil geniuses who can steal your cash, and obviously we would never do that because we want to stay friends.
We take your payment details and the security of your data very seriously. Your credit or debit card information is processed by Shopify and is shown to us in a way that we can only see the last 4 digits of the card number. Paypal transactions are handled by Shopify and Paypal, both GDPR compliant companies.
We're pretty good at security. We've got tricky passwords full of upper and lower case letters and random numbers (not our birthdays obvs) in various obscure languages and double security pin codes on everything!
We follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards. Our website is powered by Shopify, which is considered safe.
Your personal and payment data is password protected within Shopify with a double layer of security provided by a unique login code. Each time we log into Shopify we are required to enter a new pin code.
